  1. The biggest thing that happened was the US basically convincing the world to use its currency. Then Nixon did away with the gold standard, basically saying we will not back the dollar with gold. The market basket economy just backs the dollar by faith in the country. This means we can just print money and create debt that will never be paid. The country who gets to just print the world's money will always win.
