  1. The problem is that late boomers and genXers generally waited much later to have kids and as a result valued them way more than previous generations. I was thrown in the back of a station wagon with no seat belts but in the 80s and beyond it was the introduction of "Baby on Board" car window stickers warning other drivers they've got a precious baby in the car, so drive carefully around them. It was the start of "participation trophies" and not keeping score in a soccer match until a certain age so as to not damage the child's precious ego. People hired private psychologists to test kids for GATE membership to assure their involvement. It is the parents' fault that we created a generation of people who feel entitled. They seem to feel they are owed a good life because we didn't prepare them for life challenges. We suggested it was okay to be mediocre and you'll be taken care of. That is why we are seeing a movement toward socialism. They feel it is okay to take from the rich and spread the wealth around to those who didn't earn it.
