  1. There is a large amount of information regarding the incident available. Admiral Thomas Hinman Moorer who was the 7th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1970 to 1974 accused President Johnson of having covered up that the attack on the USS Liberty by Israel was a deliberate act. Later, Moorer himself was implicated in a spy ring within the White House during the Nixon administration. It isn't like the allegation that the attack was deliberate is new. People have assumed or believed this for decades.
