I actually worked out a lot of this stuff on my own (not quite all of it, but I also had other thoughts not brought up) doing some independent research. You can figure out a fair bit from the raw data we already have on the Moon, as is pointed out, and if you have any background in engineering, manufacturing, chemistry, almost any applied field that produces things, and you can start to see 'how it could be done'. I wonder about using some of those existing oxides to make stone structures, which can be reinforced with local metals, all of which can be done by robots, which also did all of the mining, as well as the manufacture of the robots/machinery that builds the ever-larger structures. I figure you can also go fairly deep. As you've got an endless supply of reasonable stone precursors, you can make these walls fairly thick, which would also provide not insubstantial insulation (or at least a good barrier to then insulate, you also can make endless fiberglass or ceramic fiber to line the structure. Metal structures seem more of a problem, but could certainly be done. it's pretty cool stuff to think about either way, especially since it will be happening at some point. I guess everyone needs a hobby, right?
