  1. It's the 'new thing' that all the major powers do, they have PMCs that arbitrarily don't count as state actors, and thus are 'exempt' from any manner of legal consequence. This is the same type of logic that was used to justify not treating uber as a taxi service (and thus exempting it from all taxi-related responsibilities, despite objectively and obviously taxiing people around, meaning it was wildly more profitable than taxis that had to pay taxes and register), it's legalese BS over the weakest sort, very much circumventing the meaning and intent of the rule by adhering to an especially (arguably implausibly so) stupid/short-sighted interpretation of legal codes that is extraordinarily self-serving. You can't do this kind of thing as an engineer or architect, and even as a doctor you'd be hit with malpractice suits for interpreting things in such a cognitively bankrupt fashion.

  3.  @benjystrauss2524  The US has never fought for the freedom of anyone, ever, other than the freedom of the powerful to shit down on those less powerful. Even in WW2 it was almost impossible to get the American public on board with fighting the nazis. What intervention did the US do to further freedom, overthrow left leaning democracies everywhere but Western Europe?? Good lord americans love their propaganda.
