  2. It's always cute when people pretend the justice system in the West has rules other than protect the rich. If you're a poc in the US none of this would sound remotely unusual, if you think the Japanese sound rough look up the daily horrors of the US prison system, if you're not rich you get tortured. It's like when the West brags it has "negligible corruption", because we've defined corruption as "what they do over there".
