  4. This really is a bit 'on the nose' these days, and I think we can confidently say that a crazy male candidate gets wwwaaayyy less crap than a crazy female one in the US. Maybe you Americans can try running some non-crazy candidates? You guys know it's not required that all your candidates be nutters, right?

  5. Philosophically, there is little point for people who have no actual power over their situation to lose their composure. Karl understands that even if life sucks, acting out can actually lead to things getting even worse, so their isn't really any point in being anything but as happy as one can be given the situation of a life that is objectively shit (well, dog shit, since he walks them regularly). Ironically, no matter how shitty life is, if you can find a way to be kinda happy (IE be actively positive/slightly delusionally hopeful), it is a bit less shitty, and can be not-shitty enough to not need to kill yourself.
