Also Moscow would not had helped Germany. Not to a consequential manner. The south was the key point.

Once again a fantastic video. It is nice to see someone do the eastern front actual justice when so many just either skim it or even worse liter it with myths. Nice to see that the most important front in history is getting the attention it deserves thanks to you. It is a curiosity if Germany could of faired better if Barbarossa was actually focused on the south instead of center or if Typhoon was canceled. It would of also been a curious case if the Germans could of prevented Operation Uranus.
2
Except it really wouldn’t. One they did not have logistics or supply lines to take NA.
1
Also Turkey was not going to join the war for economic reasons
1
Because too much was sucked into it. Retreating would be admitting defeat. Also they were making gains slowly which led the Germans to believe that the victory was just happening later than they guessed rather than seeing it as a defeat. This is a running theme was the German mentality where they weren’t truly taking the USSR seriously until 1943 by which point it was too late.
1
@AidenPryde3025 To a degree that is true but again it ignores the German mindset
1
True. But counters west of the Volga would of proven logistically a nightmare for the Soviets
1
Pedro Duarte it’s actually unlikely the nukes would of been used in a scenario where Germany was winning as it would be more likely to provoke them than make them back down. And I doubt that America would resort to nuclear genocide for the sake of claiming a victory
1
Ed Ireland again political conditions are very different. Also these were proposed, not passed. Again America even in our own timeline only planned to use 1 last nuke on Japan after the 2 and if that didn’t work. Operation Downfall
1
Logistics are easier in a defensive war
1
Of course. It’s just a better option than what they did
1
Which statistics?
1
Because they did not have the logistics capable of taking the Middle East plus no practical way to get the oil back to Germany
1
mwieser123 it is pointless. But it doesn’t change the issue had the Caucasus themselves been captured by the Germans. So while I agree about the Volga. I disagree about Germans being doomed at Barbarossa
1
The problem is there would be no northern guard line so AGA is would get encircled too easily
1
The Germans could not take the Caucasus in 41 for logistical reasons
1
Mark Richmond again, even before Moscow, German advanced was stopped because their supply lines were overstretched. They could probably achieve entry into the Caucasus but they could not make it to Astrakan in 1941 or even Stalingrad
1
Mark Richmond trust me I overall agree that it is a better option. I’m just saying it won’t gain them the whole thing.
1
Yeah just move the army group that has nothing to strategically gain. Also yes, holding the Caucasus would of solved their logistics as not only does it negate the most difficult front but it gains them the resources they do desperately need. Yes troops might of been stretched but that’s a losing battle regardless on what the Germans do
1
Debatable. Soviet organization would of likely broken down and the economy would almost certainly collapsed considering how close it did in our own timeline. Leaving the Red Army combat inefficient within a year. Also don’t forget this is Germany, so I doubt one Nuke would push surrender. Not to mention Liftwaffe defenses. Also AA guns would of been set up in the Caucasus.
1
Really who was supplying Germany with such important resources?
1
Agreed
1
Trying to take Stalingrad really did put the operation in the Soviet’s favor
1
True. But don’t forget German arrogance
1
He did
1
Look up his oil video and he explains this
1
Not automatically. Their troops actually aren’t the reason the USA was so useful
1
Aero Sity the western allies isn’t the deciding factor. The USA was only going to win the war faster. But once when the Soviets pushed Germany back, victory was inevitable
1
Aero Sity not really. For the sake of this argument I will ask u. When do u think the turning point of WW2 was?
1
@aerosity8094 I will agree that the possibility of the USSR facing an economic collapse without the USA was possible.
