  1. Perhaps. But one can provide the means for the beggar to help himself. After all, give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for life. The gray is not the question of whether to help or not, but how we help. Those who simply do so with no desire to change the long term problem will sometimes only feed into why the problem exists. Those who indulge in nothing but peace and light will have no knowledge how to fight the battles in life, but those who live in only darkness will forget the very things they fight for. Passion and Peace can be achieved and co exist when the passion is for peace.

  2. A sith is the desire to be free for oneself, where its philosophy clashes is they believe freedom is a zero sum gain. For them to have freedom and power, it must be denied to others who could challenge them. The Jedi denied passion, sense of self, and the strive to be more than they are. The Sith won the thousand year grand plan, because they changed and adapted. The Jedi did not. The Jedi fail because they cannot adapt to change, the sith fail because they are their own worst enemy.
