  1. I'm sure the first Britons were dark complexioned but i dont think they were that dark. Skeptical about the blue eyes as well. Maybe some but most of them? I think they would have looked like those darker welsh types we still find today, or mediterranean south iberian/berber types.

  5. I think existing farms can't get labour/farm hands either, because people don't want to work farms them as the pay is minimal due to the currency being worthless. So your effectively working 12 hour days and at the end of it can't buy anything. So i can understand why people avoid it. Though they would be closer to the food source.

  9. I'm not saying they were middle eastern. Iberia is where you find Spain and Portugal. Whilst Berbers are from Morocco and Algeria, long before the arabs took over the region around 700-800AD. In the neolithic times it was easier to get from spain/western france to britain because the channel hadn't flooded yet.

  10. We need to start bringing production back to the western sphere. i.e. US, Canada, UK, EU. Yes it will increase costs, but it will be in a safe stable environment for production. Things weren't so bad in the 90's either, when technology was produced in the west still.

Though its bad for the labour party, It's better for democracy to have 3 parties each representing a different position rather than 3 parties that are almost the same.

  18. @Rasmus Vohlakari The unemployment only got bad in some scandinavian economies because of the large influx of mostly unskilled immigrants who don't speak the local language. Both from within the EU and from outside. The large influx of non EU people has caused a significant extra strain on social services. If not for these things, the system does actually work. Also 10 percent is a pretty negative interpretation, i know that both the left and the right likes to manipulate unemployment statistics to suit their own ends but most officially accepted figures have unemployment at around 4-7 percent which is pretty average for well to do first world countries. We live in post industrial societies now (unfortunately) where most of that work was off-shored to poorer countries because people like Reagan paved the way for other presidents like the Bushes and Clintons to remove the penalities of national companies that do so. The New World Order as Bush senior liked to say, = globalism.

  19. @Ramazanlale these countries are all capitalist. But have social programs, and the state plays a role in trying to serve basic needs of citizens. The french system is really struggling which is why globalist Macron is trying to reform it, and i don't know how thats going to work out. Otherwise i would say 'small is beautiful', a reason the social democracy model works in those countries is that other than having first world levels of development and education, they have low populations which makes it easier to pay for social programs.

  23. I think a Corbyn government could end up inadvertantly helping the Liberal Democrats over time. Lib Dems are at a low ebb but with a new more charismatic new leader the party may bounce back after middle class voters who dont like tories, nor corbyns left policies find that Lib Dems represent their views the best.

  30. Corbyn should be leader, as he represents what the labour party was always meant to be about. Labour is supposed to be left wing. The Lib Dems are supposed to be centrist. The conservatives are supposed to be right wing/centre right. The labour rebels want to make the labour party like the lib dems mark 2. It's bad for democracy because it means at the general election there will be only two choices, the tories, or lib dems/labour which will be practically the same. With Corbyn there are three choices for the public.

  33. @chokonashe61, to be fair a lot of the real left is still as anti war as it has always been but in america the left is a broad tent ranging from socialists to non socialists who have progressive views on race and gender. These latter people tend to watch buzzfeed news and read things like rawstory.com but are not averse to some msnbc or cnn. And they are complicit because they never show any skepticism towards this war. Whilst right wing outlets have shown more skepticism towards this war than their left wing counter parts which is pretty incredible. And the reason is because they hate Russia, because they still think Russia was to blame for Hilary Clinton's defeat and Trumps victory. So if you are tough on Russia, by going against their interests and their proxy in the region you must be doing something right.

Maybe if the purges didn't happen, a red army general would have taken on Stalin in the 30's, due to his cruelty and excesses. And plunged the country into a civil war, inadvertantly playing into the hands of nazi germany. Or maybe not. But the facts are that Stalin's military industrial complex was enough to beat the germans and thus contribute to the course of history that leads to present day and the state that Russia finds itself today which for all it's flaws could be a lot worse.

  43.  @adrianlouw2499  Ukraine has always produced a lot of cheap grain. Yes it has had a corruption problem ever since it's independence, but it's also got really good soil some of the best in the world called Chernozem soil, and a lot of poor countries depended on bulk imports of grain to sustain their population, whether it was made into bread or whether the grain was used for livestock. Russia is also a really big grain producer, i think they may even have had no.1 spot. And with the war going on it's become harder for them to export too as I believe they no longer have access to many western ports, and have to plan for alternate routes, which increases the price.

  44. Everyone is like, oh woe is me, poor Haiti and all that. But how about we start to look at practical solutions and ideas to actually resolve this chaos and anarchy? They need a tough but fair handed international armed mission to set up a government mandate. Root out the gangs, even if in an extreme manner. Bring order so we can get basic aid to people and then work on creating a transparent political climate with low corruption and a strong free press before bringing in an election. Why should we solve their problem? Because if we don't it will soon become our problem as an island in constant chaos and misery is going to keep creating an overspill of desperate migrants, year upon year upon year. And then we'll be facing the equivalent in costs anyway. So we may as well do it in a way that pave the way to a better future in Haiti.

  45. That's part of the problem, overpopulation. Haiti has almost 12 million people and growing and it's a really small bit of land with no resources due to soil erosion and pollution. Obviously this doesn't justify it but it's impossible to develop a country when you have no resources. A start would be to take on the gangs, allow international aid to reach the people but also try stop the population growing so much when there's no chance of sustaining that many people. Giving women full reproductive rights and legal protection would actually help achieve this, because no woman wants to have five to eight starving children. They would rather have two or three, not starving children.

  46. There are many types of africans Peace1, and they too would have had changes due to environment. The very first africans were probably not ebony black, like people from places like Ghana or central african republic can be. But looked more like the khoisan people of south africa.

  48. Bear in mind that ebony black skin developed later due to extreme climate. Like the really black people you get in places like Ghana or central african republic. I'm in agreement with those that think the first humans probably looked like the khoisan tribe of south africa. i.e. a bit like how Nelson Mandela looked. Lighter brown complexion with slightly asian type eyes, but also having modern black features. It's easy to see how the different racial groups of today could have developed from such a people as the root ancestors. As for Cheddar man, if you read my first post again, you'll notice I say i do think he was dark complexioned. Just not that dark. And i still find it odd, that he would be even darker than a lot of modern black people who are not directly from central africa. But it is possible I guess. Look up Dravidians and Melanesians. Cheddar man kind of reminds me of those groups who are both ancient lineages that are still around.
