Surprisingly clever move from the conservatives. Numbers of economic migrants trying to go to Britain under the guise of asylum seekers will drop dramatically in the near future, as they'll rather stay in France or other countries of the EU than go to Britain and risk being sent to Rwanda (which is not a terrible place incidentally, they are making real economic progress). The horrible Calais camps will soon be a historical footnote!

@ItsJustRyan89 I don't think it will end the problem, but I do think it will reduce the numbers. If you were a third world economic migrant, posing as an asylum seeker, or even an actual asylum seeker, would you travel all the way to Britain, only to risk being sent to Rwanda? Or would you rather remain in the European Union where they don't have such a system in place, and where there are many countries that are economically well off, and with similar opportunities to what the UK has?

@ItsJustRyan89 In the short term yes, but I think that in the long run it will save money if the message sinks in that going to UK = Rwanda. And it will, word of mouth gets about. That's why so many migrants came in the first place, when 30 years ago it was rare. They all knew of someone who got into the UK and did well out of it. It made them want to try it too. Likewise in the future, they'll all know of someone who got into the UK and ended up in Rwanda. Which from their point of view, kind of sucks!
