  2. It could partly be an act. The magazine is not stupid in the sense that it realises there are a lot of terrible women out there, who love to read stories of people who are even worse than them. It makes them feel better. So Amy Houghton could partly be a persona of an exaggerated train wreck of a woman who helps other train-wrecks feel normal. They sleep better at night thinking 'well, at least i'm not as bad as Amy Houghton'.
