Libya has its human right issues, but in other respects the people live much better than in any other african country. The west is very picky about what human rights matter. The human right of a citizen to a home, in his own country is not given great importance in the western democracy. You get people without homes, or having to house share due to excessive rents of the 'property barons'. But we do have the right to free speech. However, to me both of these rights are equally important.

it is a bit bias, its true that marxist insurgency was violent, the royal forces where just as violent and repressive but thats not mentioned.

I think behind the smiles there was also fear and craziness because they knew their empire was crumbling by the day and soon the enemy would be near their doorstep and who knows what would happen to them after, was the sense they felt. Particularly with regards to the vast army of vengeful soviets who wanted payback. So there was a sense of 'this isn't going to last, so we must try to enjoy life as soon it will probably be over'.

The danger of this polarisation is that China may see 'a second Mao' come through the communists ranks and with the support of the disenfranchised masses they'll take over and it will lead to chaos.

This is how Europe and USA would end up if we got rid of social/non profit housing and regulations.

Belarus and Russia are not like that though.

I'm just saying that in Russia and Belarus are not like Ukraine. Instead, there has been resistance to westernization, partly due to a concern of the problems it can bring too. Social cohesion is neglected in the west, in favor of focusing just on economic growth which is not even sustainable. The Ukraine has tried to move into that direction, and has seen more negatives than positives as a result, ultimately leading to the civil war in donetsk region.

@karolyt11 not necessarily, a free market democracy could be an avenue for most the wealth to leave the country. At least the current regime ensures that the state and therefore the nation and not multi-national business owns most the wealth. Thats not to say there isnt more democratic reform that could be done but its heavy handed nationalist economics I don't criticise as its in the interest of the nation.

if north korea was so free it would let people leave at will and allow visitors to explore the country at will. The reason they dont is they have something to hide. Don't get me wrong in that I don't like globalised capitalism, it affects a nations sovereignty but north korea is very sinister because of it's secrecy.

He was a colossus of the 20th century, but he was heartless and inhumane.

Question, does a basque citizen come up as spanish or basque on his/her birth certificate?

I think people have a right to welfare if theres no work about, because the government and private owners have taken all the land, in the olden days people could give the government the finger and run their own plot of land, sustaining themselves. But theres non left anymore.

This is why Donetsk Republic fights.

@DogWalkingTall too late for that, at least it only tends to be one advert. For now...

@hailabg the land is not that rich, that's part of the problem. Sure i support the idea of using any suitable soil to it's potential but i think it will only go that far. Family planning programmes will help prevent starvation/famine also.

yeah but that attitude is unfair on the people of zimbabwe who didnt support mugabe
1
It's because in zimbabwe the attacks on farmers were directed by the government, while in south africa it's down more to gangs of thugs. I don't disagree with you though, the western media largely ignores this issue which is pretty bad. I think the football world cup will begin to highlight to the world a lot of south africas issues.

Moldova is agriculturally rich and could be a valuable asset with sufficient investment in renewable energy sources. Also, a small country should be mindful of overpopulation. I wouldnt have more than 2 kids if i knew i wouldnt be able to provide a good life for them, in fact, one of the reasons i was reluctant to have a child in a previous long term relationship was that my finances where not great and it is dishonourable to rely too much on the state and society for your own child.
