I don't see how the civil war in Syria, mentioned at the end of the video, contributes to the boats in north africa going to Italy. North Africa is difficult to get to from Syria. Are the Syrians refugees getting boats from Syria to Libya or Tunisia and then Sicily? Sounds a weird way to go about it.

0.44 in recent times the south eastern coast of siciliy has become too often the destination of these journeys. In 'recent time' hey? Like after the collapse of the Gaddafi regime in Libya? Libya used to serve as a buffer zone for Italy and would deal with a large proportion of the migrants for her. Before they even got to the sea.
