  1. ***** Whilst I don't agree with your somewhat unpleasant tone, lot's of people packed into one place does cause risk of disease outbreak. Especially this time of year, even the med has it's cold winters. I don't think the island officials are doing this out of cruelty or to humiliate, but because their resources are at breaking point and they can't cope.

  2. During the Gaddafi regime it actually served as a buffer zone of sorts. He had an arrangement with his then friend, Berlusconi to turn the migrants back. Now that Libya is suffering from an unstable recovery from the civil war, they arent really in a position to be able to perform that action for Italy. Hence the scale and severity of this issue has increased a lot since 2011/2012.

  3. Louis marangolo I agree with you, but it's easier for us to say from afar than if it was us in their shoes. But they should fight, and revolt. And become politically militant if their homeland has become the hellhole that makes them take these perilous journeys.

  4. JohnPaul Dixon Fighting their corrupt governments takes great courage, and yes it's easy for us to say they should overthrow their governments. If it were us, we would be frightened to. I would be frightened to. But you know what, i would do it. I would be afraid but i would join a revolution, Africa needs a new Thomas Sankara. Whilst aligned to the Marxists in the cold war, he was in actuality a nationalist, and his first priority was the welfare of his people. In Burkinha Faso today he is remembered fondly by most the people, unlike most communists.

  5. Grabaka Sennin I wouldnt be able to start a rebellion on my own with no resources, but usually in these countries you find that rebel groups already exist. Though admittedly, sometimes the rebels are worse and i guess that fleeing is the only option in some cases. But on of my heroes of Africa is Thomas Sankara and the continent needs more people like that. He was doing really well in Burkhina Faso and showing that there was a different way for Africa to do things. But then he was assasinated.

  6. LombardMilitia And Berlusconi, he is a corrupt man who has lived mainly for his own (largely hedonistic) pleasure. I believe he does care for Italy a bit. It is his country after all, but I believe he places his life of luxury above that of his country.
