  1. My theory is that cloud seeding has in part caused this. They have shot down clouds that were not fully formed that would likely have drifted into other areas helping water in other zones. But instead the fledgling clouds got used prematurely and never had the chance to move on and accumulate in other areas that needed that water.

  4. There's a lot of corruption in China it's the legacy of Mao. Ironically a lot of the 'good' but dumb idealistic communists died because during the famines they shared the little they had, convinced that the socialist state (which did abandon them to their fate) would never abandon them and would aid them at the last moment. While the survivors where the connivers and the cheats who were selfish and cared only for themselves and their family but were also smart. With secret stashes of food yet would go out to beg for more, feigning desperation. Taking what little aid there may have been away from those that needed it more. These are the calibre of people that built up the new China thus corruption became endemic and even more prevalent than before. They would teach their children 'you see an opportunity you take it' and to not be a dumbass like the 'good' people that died or lost family members from trying to be altruistic and sharing what little they may have had.

  5. They still think an ever growing population is a good thing, but when the day comes when it really hits the fan it just means more people are going to get hurt.
