@gilbertbanta84 A part of Texas is coastal, so i'm guessing they're referring to that.

Right Sector is fascist but politically small and represent only a tiny faction of Ukrainians. However they were instrumental in ousting pro russia Yanukovych earlier in the year who the pro russian ukrainians supported. They gained influence and strength in the new parliament but remain small. And the pro russians now brands all the new parliament with the same brush.

I like Thomas Sankara. One of the best African leaders.

Why would anyone be so stupid to get into heroin in the first place? Do you really wake up one morning and think, hmm. Today is the day. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna try me some heroin. Because that's retarded. Ok, young people/teens from broken homes with no families, fall into bad company etc, that i can empathise with up to a point. But an adult who just decides to take it out of boredom or searching for new experiences is just being stupid.

@Superearthofficalrecruiter It's a massive organisation. As a low level administrative assistant or clerk in some office in Europe or New York you're not going to see anything bad happen. Yet you would be bombarded by all the woke and self aggrandizing propaganda about how great they are as an organization, all the time. But if you have access to higher security classified documents or are based in one of the parts of the world where these things are happening you would be more likely to come across or see incriminating and shady things going on.
9
Paul Rhodes It's showing both perspectives. Simon Ostrovsky is following the Ukrainian side and is a persona non grata in Donetsk. This isnt a black and white war. Most of them arent. All factions can do unpleasant stuff. It's the nature of war. In most western media we only get the Ukrainian side and they can do no wrong. With RT we only get the Russian side to the conflict and the seperatists can do no wrong. Vice's approach is the least biased of all i've seen.

They'll build a better country once Blaise Compaore stops stealing all the wealth and selling out to his french benefactors.
8
Chile has advanced health care - if you are rich.
6
This is what happens when poor countries population grows too fast. Desperate to survive and live (cant blame them for that) they use up what resources they can but its only buying time. The shit will hit the fan. Give them free condoms and place a family planning policy and there will always be enough arable land without exhausting it. And most importantly you avoid famine.
5
They cant because the cutting down the forest ruined the soil. It's all well and good cutting down some trees for arable land but you need to keep some of the trees or you start getting soil erosion.
5
Grafitti isnt going to bring about a better society i want to tell these kids. If they have that much of an issue with things by all means get into political activism but dont be a vandal.
5
I used to think Cannabis came from the americas but it actually comes from central asia. Not that far from eastern ukraine.
4
I think Vice has had good coverage overall of the conflict. They also have Henry Langston reporting from the other side.
4
They dont have tanks or at least not many of them. I dont think any jets or combat aircraft have come in from Russia. Tanks and particularly jets are hard to hide. Too obvious. What they do have are Artillery pieces and Anti Tank weapons and Anti Aircraft weapons being sneaked in from Russia. As well as experts who know how to use them, as well as masses of 'volunteer' soldiers to help Donetsk. This is all easier to hide and potentially more effective in that type of fighting. They sneaked in weapons like that, not tanks and planes and it gave a big blow vs the ukrainian army recently just before this weak ceasefire.
4
Alexander Rosalez Once they are hooked i understand its very difficult to quit. But getting started i still find my it hard to get my head around. I've tried my share of drugs i must admit. But if anyone ever offered me heroin i'd be half tempted to punch them in the face. At very least break ties with them. There are other vices people can indulge in if feeling down, but unless they are completely ignorant to what heroin is, which is like, no-one (talking of adults here) then you only need half a brain to realise its going to end badly.
4
Because poverty problems are more a social problem than a racial problem. That's why.
4
In the 80's the french worked with Blaise to assasinate the popular leader Thomas Sankara. So that he would then sell out the countries resources/assets to the french for cheap. Giving them pride of place for business deals. Blaise Compaore was even Thomas Sankaras friend since childhood, but he betrayed and backstabbed him for money and power. I'm glad they finally ousted him.
3
If they damage the building enough they hope it will be demolished and a new one built. I think it reminds them of the hated former regime.
3
Dagstyrr Interesting footage from a couple of weeks ago there. I like it as it shows a street. Which makes a better landmark than just a field. For the record i think they did bring that over the border but Russians and the seperatists will still claim they were captured tanks. T72's generally look alike and reactive armour comes in different types that looks similar even if the material is different.
3
Daniel Beers Don't they know it's not gonna turn out well? Or have they already lost hope and dont care anymore? Again, i could understand kind of, but most who take it dont seem to have fallen to that level of hopelessness yet.
3
Daniel Beers Heroin, crack and meth are amongst the worst things to get addicted to however. It's best not to even go in that direction, if people need a drug or some kind of vice as some kind of a psychological crutch it would be smarter to go for something different. Almost anything but those.
3
There are some monsters out there that deserve the death penalty, but it has to be something pretty bad. A rape and murder for example. Here though, i think they are just making an example. Death should not be dished out lightly, a long prison sentence is preferable in most cases. If you get an execution happy culture develop, its also going to lead to false accusations between people who dislike each other, and eventually innocent people will end up being wrongly killed.
3
The 21st century promised so much. But it's turning out like a back story for a call of duty modern warfare game.
2
***** That doesnt excuse it. Japan is supposed to be a developed first world country.
2
It doesnt work in US, Puerto Rico in particular because there is more poverty and people desperate to get out of it by any means such as crime. In countries where people are comfortably well off theres less demand for guns. Such as Ireland or Denmark. Even England where there are poor people but there is also a fairly robust safety net that i think stops people doing anything too desperate. At least they have food and have a roof over their heads for the most part. Sure, there are some criminals, typically highly ambitious ones that will acquire guns illegally but the it's relatively uncommon because the demand isnt that high. Most feel the risks arent worth it.
2
It's sad. I think prostitution is ok if in first world countries, provided it's not linked to drug dealing pimps who get the women hooked on crack. With the drugs out of the equation it's a means for women (or men) with few work skills a means to make money quickly. But it isnt necessary for survival. Especially in countries with a welfare state. But in Bangladesh the prostitutes have to do this to survive and feed themselves and family. The country has a lot of issues it needs a revolution and also birth control would help reduce squalor. The population is very large in proportion to the amount of land. And what land there is, though fertile, is prone to regular flooding.
2
Tembe tribe, my hopes are with you!
2
Welfare for work is the solution. People will get a robust layer of protection vs homelessness. But they contribute to society still and being in such a role also makes them more employable.
2
Let African history play itself out! We shouldnt intervene. These wars are an important historical phase known as NATION BUILDING
2
Dagstyrr Firstly, i'm not pro russian but am neutral in this conflict. The russians may sneaked a few tanks in, it wouldnt surprise me. But wouldnt it be smarter if they sent types that are also found in Ukrainian army so they can maintain a cover story? But what's your source? Anyone can just put up a photo. But only if it's near a recognisable Ukrainian landmark will the russian cover then be blown.
2
I am with you Greece. It wont be an easy road. But you can come out of this stronger with head held high.
2
With the exception of Thomas Sankara. He came down heavily on corrupt officials and forced them all to adopt more frugal lifestyles, as he himself did. He improved life for the common people. The reason he is a relative unknown is because of the cold war, he allied with the soviets and whilst the west loved a good marxist villain, they preferred not to cover it if there was one who was doing a good job.
2
Create a welfare for work program to tackle the poverty. Sent the Costa Rican army, not conscripts but their best troops to guard the beach and practice drills there to scare poachers away.
2
Arent PKK communist?
2
@SPZ909 That's because the rent is too damn high so that landlords can line their pockets. There should be more social housing rented at a not for profit basis. I remember when council housing was a big thing in England and adjusted for inflation, rent was literally half of what it currently is. Even when compared against the supposedly non profit social housing associations. Which tend to give themselves overly generous bonuses for reaching self set targets while people on minimum wage can struggle with their rent, especially if they get variable hours a week or are on zero hour contracts.
2
The scars of Pol Pot have never fully healed leaving deep rooted cross generational psychological damage among the population.
2
Most take a different route but some go through Libya. Post Gaddafi Libyans are generally sympathetic to the Syrians because they see the syrian rebellion as similar to the libyan rebellion.
1
Didnt see any tanks but there were plenty of apc's (doesnt really count as a heavy weapon) and 1 artillery.
1
This is a sad war. Only a few years ago, in 2010 the Ukranians and Russians mostly got on as friends. Now, things may never be the same.
1
xutianyangkevin They assume its changed but it hasnt much.
1
Thor Jørgensen I'm referring more to the restrictions they are putting in Puerto Rico and why that's not going down so well.
1
Ronnie Gonzalez for now but if they become like haiti it wont be. i hope they dont become like haiti that would suck
1
Ronnie Gonzalez how much of that trickles to the masses? you can only have so many tourism guides. and americans living there can only give bucks to so many people. That said, you would be right to call me pessimist. It may all pan out, outward investment could work out and the country moves forward with the influx of capital. I hope so, but they are walking a bit of a fine line.
1
( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º) you can change your class but you cant change your race however.
1
***** I can only suspect that the romans had something to do with bringing it westward. Who in turn probably got it from greeks or egyptians. I guess it's wrong to tie it down to a specific place but an 'old world' plant seems fair. I also saw a documentary about Kazahkstan once, it might have been a Vice one, and there were vast amounts of it just growing wild. Interestingly, the first european written account is from ancient greek Herodotus who explains a Scythian tribe who would make a bonfire out of it and the community would sit around it getting high. Scythians being from the region of modern Ukraine. But youre right that doesnt mean the plant comes from that area.
1
Were those M60 tanks?
1
They are industrial use chemicals so pretty sure it's not lemon juice! She mentions chromium at one point as well.
1
This is a good revolution. Blaise Compaore is a corrupt asshole and with French support assasinated his childhood friend, Thomas Sankara. An honourable man. And then he tries make himself president for life. The annoying thing is he will now flee to live a life of luxury with all the french money from selling out his country.
1
Those Africans should take inspiration from the Thomas Sankara revolution. The only revolution to make it's country food self sufficient! And they should revolt, to establish a similar order in their home land.
1
Jex134 Somalia went downhill when Siad Barre initiated the Ogaden war. Prior to that they were making positive development.
