  1. Ethiopia will dominate their politics though. But their biggest interest is to have access to the sea, not having secure access to ports really hurts Ethiopia and puts the country at risk of famine.

  2. Bigger population is not always better though. People forget that younger populations are also more prone to civil war and strife if things start to go wrong. That's why i think better a smaller population like finland, where life is safe and you can invest in safety knowing nothing awry will happen. Over countries like India where a left wing and authoritarian revolution could happen one day, or even China were a more right wing and liberal revolution could happen one day. And if not that, a war of some kind. I can see governments pressured to provide resources for its needy population, invade neighbours to take what they need. Spiraling into expensive wars. Whilst a country like Finland or Iceland is adept at providing for itself with home grown materials and when that's not available they don't have to import so much to meet their basic needs. But my ultimate point is that while big population seems better for economy, the strife and instability it can bring (such as revolution or civil war) outweights the benefits in wealth creation that it can bring.
