  1. It's endemic in nearly every African country I can think of. To be fair the corruption we see in this video is pretty low level stuff, corruption exists in every country, but in these cases it must make life really difficult for business, having to pay these extra bribes to get anywhere.

  2. It was rising poverty and corruption in north Africa that led to the arab spring. They've never been that well off and are only getting worse. Nigeria has almost a civil war going on in the oil rich area and Ethiopia also has a bad corruption/poverty record and disputes over the arable land being sold to Chinese and Indian land owners. But to be fair things are also getting worse in the developed world in a lot of cases.

  3. Well, if they could do more sting operations, perhaps a national TV show so it's all in the open under the public eye, it would be a start. While most the corruption we see in this video is low level stuff, its stuff like that that makes life really difficult for fledgling businesses, hindering development from the bottom up.
