  1. Relations are improved but not that great because Haiti is small and overpopulated. It has almost 11 million people yet is a tiny country with barely any infrastructure (what little there was got destroyed by the 2010 earthquake) so poor people try make their way illegally into Dominican Republic to find a living and this causes friction because Dominican Republic isn't really in a position to absorb large numbers of people as it has a fairly large population itself and limited resources and jobs etc. I want to see Haiti succeed and do well in the future but the best thing it could do at the moment is birth control, combined with reforestation because they cut down most of the trees which caused soil erosion and makes land unsuitable for farming. It will need aid for the years to come but I think that if the population got down to around 5 million it would be in a much better situation to become self sustaining and then build up a working economy. They really need to take use of contraceptives and birth control seriously otherwise it will never make any progress.
