It's not taking anyones rights Rand Paul. Let's take higher taxes for rich people. If you don't want to pay the taxes don't do the job, stay in bed or go bird watching or choose a less paid profession that has lower to zero taxes. Authoritarian socialism may force you to do something so the government reaps the benefit (ie a cuban doctor) but here, and under Bernies plans, no-one is forcing anyone to do anything.

whyamimrpink78 The thing is most would choose to still work because if they stay in bed and get paid by the government they will get a pittance. They wont even be able to afford a public bus. Whilst if they work they can go out for beers in the weekend, and afford to eat better. tastier food - eat out even. If they are skilled they can still afford a better home, or own their own home, or a car etc. Go on holidays abroad, better clothes etc.Just like how it is now. The lazy bones would get a bare minimum but they wouldnt be left to starve or go without a roof over their head. Also, i would consider a welfare for work, in exchange for welfare they have to work 24 hours a week. Again, this is not authoritarian as they can refuse it, but it would make them a tramp. Yet they would still be free. And it would help their resume/references.

whyamimrpink78 Not if doing less work/aka no work earns them 20 dollars a week and a proper job earns them at least 200 dollars a week. Most people dont want to sit there doing jack shit all day, staring at the sky when they could be having a better life. Though in some cases it could be a passing phase.
