  2. frbe0101 Lets have fairness, regardless of social class. Everyone treated the same under the law. Not a harsh punishment for poor people, a light punishment for rich people.

  3. frbe0101 The average sentence for rape in US is almost 10 years. If a poor urban kid, regardless of race did a crime like that the chances are they would have the book thrown at them, they'd be looking at something closer to 6 years not 6 months. Yes lets have a more rehabilitative prison system, but lets also have a less abritrary judicial system.

  4. frbe0101 Maybe a system of law based on precedent like in the UK? Could be a step in the right direction, and help tackle abritrariness. Other similar rulings can be cited in the court to help continue the precedent. I think in american courts thats not allowed.

  5. frbe0101 A more sensible range than we have at present, could be a positive step forward for a rehabilitative approach. At risk of being arbitrary myself, rather than 6 months to 14 years, two to six years? The point is i just want a system that promotes a more equal justice for all, regardless of your strata in a society. Such fixed ranges could be a push in the right direction.
