  1. Sounds like the better question, is ads a good way of compensating things? Ultimately ads are a statistical game, like gambling. At least with subscriptions there's a tie in between content and compensation that can only be bypassed by piracy. But people don't like subscriptions (paywall, too many subscriptions, etc.)
