  2.  @VictorianGodMan  It's not a "build one's own internet". It's building something on top of it, which is easier. From easy availability of servers to cryptocurrency diverting around the current gatekeepers.

  3. Any "new" site be it a replacement for eBay, or YouTube invariably has to deal with the same problems the established boys did. From counterfeits to copyright complaints, etc, etc. That's why "freedom" has to be limited from the start to prevent future problems.

  4. Well the reason the manufacturer could is because they could get all the needed parts and had all the right tools so any guarantee of refurbished could be guaranteed. e.g. brother printer, etc.
