@helgahaa Man's law vs law of physics. Who will win?

@LSFfilms Even if he didn't Trump wouldn't have done anything different. He wants to reward those who support him.

It'll mean the constitution means something.

Because most people are argumentative and wouldn't be satisfied with that answer. Plus this is a perfect time to educate the populace.
19
@LunaticTheCat About as infuriating as "should do it for the love" when the issue of compensation comes up. People really do bend all kinds of ways to not compensate for a non-rivalrous good.

"Depressing to realize it has been made so hard to prosecute some pretty blatant corrupt behavior through reliance on highly narrow interpretations." Worked better when it was "Thou shall not...", etc, etc.

@ArynWellspring Being a public defender is a worthwhile thing. Just ask Kamela Harris.

Years in the open no less.

I think a careful reading of the scotusblog show this "Determining which acts are official and which are unofficial “can be difficult,” Roberts conceded. He emphasized that the immunity that the court recognizes in its ruling on Monday takes a broad view of what constitutes a president’s “official responsibilities,” “covering actions so long as they are not manifestly or palpably beyond his authority.” " So, is his current acts beyond his authority? Also, it notes he has no authority over state legislatures so there's a shield there. And let's not forget there were dissenters, so it wasn't a universal opinion.
8
Limits of pardon power: No application to state crimes, preserving state judicial autonomy. Exclusion from cases of impeachment, safeguarding legislative checks on executive misconduct.
7
@AlexA-nd3yy Those that love the public domain like say the internet archive.
7
@efulmer8675 Court of public opinion voting him into office. Pardoning everything he ever did, and replacing the judges that wronged him with his puppets.

That's because fascism has historically shown that their threats aren't empty.
6
They need more memory cards.
6
@BigSmiley0TV The "better" people don't want to be politicians. Better money and less stress elsewhere.
6
@SeraphsWitness How many even know who Karl Marx is?
6
Imagine paying a lot of money to get a degree in protesting.

The material she has to work with makes it easy.
5
"For us normal folks, we can just go by the ol' adage 'Don't be a criminal'. " Petty crimes like piracy, pilfering office supplies, cheating on tax forms, stretching the truth on insurance forms, etc, etc.

4
@skop3609 Nelson Mandella certainly "felt the real world" and yet chose a different path than an eye for an eye.
4
@deuscast That's not unique to rich people. Jack-legging is a time old tradition.

Hey why not? Your queen was awesome.
3
In a successful coup what usually happens to any legal structure?
3
@Duchess_Bananabread Solar, solar, and solar.
3
Very well put together considering the difficulty of the subject. It does raise the question of the purposes of the institutions if at best they do little to benefit society, and at worst harm it.
3
His followers are a bigger threat than he is.
