Hi my fellow Canadian, you must have seen a lot in your business years, build many friendship, and you are a good ambassador to our country.
Do you still remeber our PM Lester Pearson ? How skillfull re resolved the Suez Crisis ? Not with weapons but with diplomacy.
I wish we had a Prime Minister like him and a more sovereign Canadian Country, like we still had in the early 80's, when I immigrated from Germany to Canada, to open my own retail business. It was the kind of freedom, many Russians believe
we had/have. Reasonable municipal bylaws, low property taxes and low utility cost, affordable housing and a path to riches that started with buying or building your own house. There was an almost non exitent crime rate in villages and no homicides in cities like Toronto for a year. Could not see any homeless.
Now I can not Recognixe my beloved country anymore, it's like waking up in a Twilight Zone. A Waffen SS Nazi Yaroslav Hunka of the 14th SS Galicia Division being celebrated by our Parliament with 2 standing ovations.
I retired 6 years ago now live in a partly off grid house, where the next town is 35 k distance. A small town riddled with an opiod problem, houses no longer policed by law enforcement. Homeless people sleeping in bankmachine rooms and under highway overpasses and tents. I do not want to mention Toronto and Barry anymore, or Sudbury.
When I look at Russian countrylife I feel homsick , I want to go back to a life like that, that makes me appreciate community and people again.
