@Asian Boss A California Roll isn't technically a 'sushi', right? Isn't it considered a 'maki sushi' because it is rolled? Sashimi is just thin sliced, raw fish. Nigiri is sashimi placed on top of a bit of vinegar rice with wasabi in between. This isn't what traditional maki-sushi is supposed to be, but it can be viewed as an evolution/variation of maki-sushi. Also, I find it almost insulting that the people of Japan thinks that the US doesn't have access to fresh, raw fish and that is why these kinds of rolls are made. There are plenty of traditional, sushi places in the US. It's just that they're kind of on the expensive side and not as readily available like in Japan.
