It shouldn't matter if you're heterosexual, homosexual, or any of the variety of identities of the LGBTQ.
As a straight male, I have to say that it's a shame that in this day and age, people still criticize others for how the person identifies themselves. It shouldn't matter. People are who they are. As long as you're of a positive mindset, sincere about yourself and the things you're into, etc... I think it's fine.
People need to stop judging and looking down on people.
With that said, I think it's impressive that this guy is helping those that identify as transgender. Transgender individuals are people too. They deserve to live, work, and enjoy life. They shouldn't have to stress about being physically, mentally, or socially abused because they identify as being transgender.
In the case of India, I'm actually not too surprised that transgender and people of the LGBTQ are still looked down upon. The country still (from what I understand) is under the caste system (at least to a certain degree), and being anything other than heterosexual (i.e. straight) probably just makes those individual looked less than even the lowest tier of the caste system.
I hope that this restaurant thrives and changes the way India (as a whole & in general) views people of the LGBTQ community. These are all still people who have differences in opinions, and just want to live life. Again, I hope this restaurant owner helps educate India and helps to push India to be more open minded and accepting of people of all different social status, economic status, social identity, etc.
