  1. Well given that India is traditionally under the caste system and for the most part a patriarchy, it's no surprise that things like this unfortunately occur at a relatively large rate. Also, I would guess that these statistics are an overall thing and it can be higher or lower depending on the region/city. In the US women really have nothing to worry too much about. Most cities are quite safe and it's (from my experience) very very very very rare for things like this to happen. However, I'm sure there are probably some ares in the US that are dangerous for women like any country around the world.
