From what I can tell, the Leftover Women is a very old-world thinking aspect of Chinese culture. It's kind of messed up how there are criteria to be considered marriage material which I think is a recipe for disaster. If you're getting married just to have kids, then that's not really a loving marriage situation. It's a marriage out of necessity which in itself is a very old-world way of thinking. It's usually done during war-times (for example) where 2 families join and share resources to basically survive.
