@sblbb929 Just generally saying: 1. Clinical professionals can get things wrong, too, and it certainly happens often enough especially since many mental disorders share traits and/or neurochem. agents and brain areas involved in impairments. 2. <Psychopathy> isn't an official disorder (of it's own and validated) in current ICD and DSM. Mostly it is considered comorbidly meaning they'll attribute the most fitting personality disorder (/cluster B, in your Dad's case NPD as you stated) and list other comorbid traits, subtypes and characteristiques.

@amerubix185 which indeed is a fascinating dispute. There is a good reason why one can't just get away with some trespassing or criminal deed by claiming "Oh, I didn't know, I swear!" It will be very difficult to determine whether a Free Will exists or not and what defines it. And: in what state and due to what disorders or circumstances was Free Will truly absent, and can it be proven?

@TM-pn3zk now this is real bs talking.

Bs, such a statistic can't be assessed as those who isolate are less detectable as they're beyond radar anyway. As much nonsense as labeling any criminal act with psychopathy. The problem with USA and SOCIAL MEDIA? labeling everything, overdiagnosing... diagnosing without sufficient knowledge, misconcepts of reality in societies... and exagerations everywhere anyway. If the only significant source you have are inmates / criminals, it is not astonishing one will think all people with psychopathy markers were criminals.

@MauraCole-c5l oh, really, so how come majority of bullies DON'T match criteria for psychopathic features?
1
@MauraCole-c5l all right,... and what does that have to do with bullies?
1
@MauraCole-c5l what is that supposed to mean?
1
@MauraCole-c5l "I suggest", to copy your presumptuous style of speech, you check your character. Adieu.

@MauraCole-c5l Errr... YOU insulted me multiple times without any reason. Btw, I reported the comment with cit. "[...] your inability to use your brain." (The one you or the administrator deleted). You use an imperative tone and insinuate things (calling me a bully or what was that guilt thing all about?) and insult me. Why? What have I done to you? (Except for not obeying to your need to dominate.)

@MauraCole-c5l and here we go again, you continue to "educate me" (at least that's what you think you're doing.) By now, those traits tell me something about you, yes, sometimes the devil's in the detail and any output is involontary communication about oneself. Now I'm wasting my time debating over nothing while I originally just asked a question and - had no answer to it, yet.

@MauraCole-c5l I'm not going after strangers, and certainly didn't start any misdirected hostility.

@stoneneils a person with psychopathic traits and interest in selfpreservation will care. One with a normal or high level of intelligence can also calculate risks just like others and can dislike things, e.g. life in prison. Not all people with severe forms of PD matching aspects of psychopathy are negligent about their own faith. THE Psychopath doesn't exist (yet). It is rather a defined spectrum of cardinal symptoms and behavioural-patterns, markers and absence of contra-markers as well as a question of levels of it within a PD. And no, not all psychopaths are greedy.

@snowmonster42 well, if one does not really understand how diagnostics are composed, one can have an opinion, sure. But that's all.
