The problem with ‘the way to avoid it’ is twofold A this is a war with more war crimes than most people can reasonably count, Ukraine, reasonably, will not countenance a single ounce of compromise because the criminals are in too deep B even if the above wasn’t applicable, by negotiating, by comprising, by doing whatever word you want to use, you set the precedent. A dangerous precedent for the world; that it’s okay to begin an unprovoked war of aggression (twice) to someone else, and then threaten to use nuclear weapons until you get your way, this is an untenable position for the world, imagine Iran capturing Basra, invading Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, etc and threatening glass if anyone tries to stop them, just imagine what the Syrians would’ve done if the Israelis didn’t break their reactor The only positive out of all of this is that even ardent pro Russian nations like China have steadfastly objected to any notion of the employment of nuclear weapons of any kind
