It’ll get better when certain political ideologies are scrapped, because military types just love being concerned about their battle buddy’s pronouns right? It’ll be Ft Bragg to me too, as someone who was born there For what it’s worth when the war comes (and it always comes) the social crying in countries always dies first, because it needs to to win, so we can be hopeful for that

Is it not heroic to defend your land in a defensive war as an enemy army marches in claiming you don’t exist to burn it to the ground leaving your people destitute? I mean…that’s what we say about Ukraine, but okay, just remember the war didn’t start with the secession

I love the title, it literally explains (part) of why the army is failing it’s recruiting goals, pandering doesn’t work Thanks tho for removing the monuments to men who fought defending the land those of us may live on, because what some Atlanta civilian wants to do is honor General Sherman for burning down the city

It’s not like most of these renames are people who aren’t worth remembering, but only Eisenhower has a greater claim than any of these people, a technical sergeant was put over a general, generals who fought to defend American soil from a legal secession in a defensive war, these generals saved more American servicemen and civilians (just ask the people robbed and made destitute by Sherman’s bummers) than anyone except Eisenhower in this list One of the renamings is literally for a guy who kidnapped women in children by any reasonable definition Also many of these renames are for people who fought in these unpopular expeditionary wars no one liked, I guess Vietnam is popular with the democrats (oops called out the responsible party), makes sense since it’s their fault and they ran 90% of that war But finally I can’t help but notice the pandering…some very…specific examples…fits democrat party’s political goals and narratives though

@forrestpenrod2294 sorry who’s monument is being destroyed? ‘Whataboutism’ isn’t an argument thanks Also, uh, the war didn’t start with the secession, it started with squatters refusing to leave a place they no permission to be in But whatever makes you sleep better By the way one of the renamings is for someone who kidnapped women and children, just saying

Heroes who have a much better claim to defending their homes than people who fought in unpopular expeditionary wars against nations most Americans can’t even point out on a map

@woodstream6137 I didn’t forget the slavery part, there’s no whitewashing (hence why you couldn’t say anything I said was wrong), the confederates were wrong, slavery was why they seceded, but at the end of the day the bullets didn’t start flying because of slavery, it was a defensive war, and yeah these are dudes who defended American civilians and tried to keep their men alive, American men, in America’s bloodiest war Also that’s still what happened regardless, that’s still what the union did to the south

@RedSkin92 that’s like saying the Russians weren’t allowed to invade Germany after they invaded them Try again moron
1
@firehot427 he didn’t, I’m sure you’re cheering watching your tv show video footage of the Russians burning Ukrainian houses too, or back at the start when they would rob civilians at gunpoint of all their possessions, just like some of Sherman’s men

You don’t need to know the names to say ‘destroying history is bad’, so that’s a non argument But even still…you don’t need to know a thing about General Bragg to say General Bragg is more responsible for protecting American soil than a guy fighting in America’s most unpopular war that did not protect American soil in any way

@Typexviiib there’s the language manipulation succeeding again, there’s nothing conservative or progressive about it, there’s no ‘progress’ here, it’s just one side (successfully) manipulating the language to give themselves positive connotations
