Comparisons make tons of sense, most Tank platoons fight other tank platoons when tank units come against each other An entire battalion isn’t gonna be 5m away from each other on both sides, at the end of the day when a tank goes to shoot another tank, the tank comparison will matter quite a lot

I mean leopard had no war time crunch combined with years of extra development time and tech

Call it the Leopard 1UA5 when it’s ready for delivery to the Ukrainians Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

‘Puny’ hahahahahahahha any side flank shot (you know, expected on defense) would be pretty painful

@markkringle9144 yup, and whichever tank sees first, can coordinate first, acquire, lay, and report will likely get to shoot first and potentially hit first Thus, the tank comparisons

Do remember that equipment used by African warlords and middle eastern dictators/insurgents aren’t exactly of Soviet quality, the Soviets didn’t export the best equipment they could, because duh
2
5:03 so they ignored elite units when their tank force was split quite hard on super advanced equipment like T-64 and large amounts of garbage equipment Hmmmmmmmmm

@zhufortheimpaler4041 Ukraine I don’t think is any position to be picky, as Jens said, the Leopards can be used on secondary fronts to free up more powerful tanks for forward deployment

@zhufortheimpaler4041 rheinmetal literally stated it’ll take like 5 weeks for delivery of the first dozen or so, but okay

@phunkracy tanks shooting at each other is rare? Pffffhahahahhahahaha
1
@phunkracy rare in what context exactly? This one? Where the Ukrainian armored units have been engaged since the start of hostilities? Or in the context of counter insurgency conflicts like Afghanistan? No genuinely what nonsense is this statement based on I’d love to roast it
1
@phunkracy the gulf war literally had one of the largest tank battles post ww2 are you smoking nut? The invasion of Kuwait had tankers firing until their ammo ran dry The Israelis eat Egyptian armor like a fat guy eats hot dogs The Nagorno Karabakh war was in mountains no shit tanks fighting tanks was pretty rare The war in Georgia literally had the most recent armor unit on armor unit engagement not seen until the current Russo Ukrainian war you g n o m e Good god that was easier than your girlfriend

The number 1 thing is the engine and suspension If the tank can’t move, it’s not doing a whole helluva lot now is it?
