@ragnarokstravius2074 “it all started with a guy named Charlemagne...” “Wait what? What’s that gotta do with the Wehrmacht?” “WE GET THERE WHEN WE GET THERE!”

That would actual have a bigger impact than most may think at first glance It’s the easiest way for the common soldier to see the difference, it was common for officers of merchant fleets centuries ago to eat good while the basic sailors ate watery flour essentially and that was never appreciated

@RaitoYagami88 only because he has the best access to German archives and extensive library, he does other time periods and militaries
15
@lionlepine2945 Still need actual sources also how do you find these 3.5m guys when no one kept records of them?
9
The Colonel no because American telephone books vary wildly in size, it would be like measuring with sharpened pencils
9
The Russian military doctrine, though they’ll never admit it out of pride and arrogance, literally copy pasted the German military in every sense, as said by a German officer during Kursk “They (the Soviets) try to emulate us but they do not know how”

@brettdubuque1231 because their nation had no resources vs the enemies which had lots of resources America was 70% the worlds oil supply in 1940, and which side was america on? The German automobile industry was very weak, the Americans was the strongest in the world

Or in atomic bomb casualties

@warcrimeenjoyer881 What a silly outlook on the world, but at least you admit you’re biased
4
@warcrimeenjoyer881 also, what? It’s well documented Patton was eager to go to war with the Soviets, this isn’t fanboyism like with many individuals, this is the truth, was Churchill not wanting to go to war with the Soviets? Was operation unthinkable a fabricated lie?
4
Seeing a massive army rape and maraud their way to your homeland with that explicit intent isn’t blind nationalism, for the Germans
3
@kickinghighify don’t conflate victory with skill
3
@warcrimeenjoyer881 “they probably copied a bit but not everything” I’m not gonna argue reality with you, if you think the progenitors of armored maneuver units using heavy artillery to encircle the enemy, were not copied by a military whos doctrine to this day is heavy artillery with mobile armor encircling the enemy, then you’re just naive And that’s completely irrelevant to what I replied to you with, that your bias is obvious and by the way not founded in reality, again, but at least you admitted that, it’s still a fucking pathetic view on the world
2
@warcrimeenjoyer881 what Patton wanted is literally the point of the original comment about Patton, so I don’t know where your confusion is And I’m missing where my bias is, I know where it is and I know where it’s applicable, here it’s not because reality doesn’t care about bias

I wonder if an assessment of Russian forces in Ukraine could be had over the cohesion part, seems the 3rd and 4th layer isn’t present, the men probably know the national population didn’t want this war, and the vertical cohesion is probably lost if Ukrainian transcripts of released phone calls by Russian troops is to be believed and isn’t fabricated phone calls
2
@MarkAntony_1 “was” is the keyword
1
@brettdubuque1231 you can see more in “why the German army failed in the west” which does describe the various challenges and failures

@kickinghighify “deep battle” defined as “the usage of aviation, armor, and artillery to support the breakthrough deep into the enemy lines in subsequent operations” Is quite literally what the entire world has called “a campaign” for centuries, except with the addition of air and armor, the current Russian military doctrine, held since the war, is paralyze the enemy with mass artillery suppression and encircle them with mobile armored units Ie the German maneuver warfare To quote doctor Roman toppel quoting a German soldier talking about the battle of Kursk: “the Russians they try to emulate our tactics but they do not have the practice or the skill to succeed in them” So, I mean yeah I’ll laugh with you at the joke, because you’re the joke
1
@kickinghighify they didn’t know in the battle of Kursk until they killed all the good soldiers so it works against forced fortress nerds who don’t move
1
@georgiyyamov5827 you wot? “Deep operations” are what normal people have called “military campaigns” for quite some time, and the US army had different sizes and structures, but they’re up front at least about copying the Germans You know like how the Russians did, or you would if you weren’t so enamored with buzzwords It’s like calling “Fronts” a fantastic new concept of massed armies…despite every nation having A done it and B had a name for it, Army Groups

No

Millions of American enlistedmen wish they were you and didn’t buy a mustang at 40% interest
1
@SantaClaus-kk8zr a joke in the us military is recruiters trick people with promises of stuff like free cars which isn’t true so they buy them at horrid interest rates as a low pay low rank soldier cuz...they’re dumb I guess
