I just want to say that another thing is the weird requirements for US pilots, mainly the education one, I’m sorry a gender studies or art history or English degree isn’t worth fuck all for pilots. I think it’s fair to say they’re losing out on some people because of it, they certainly lost me because US tertiary education is mostly a scam, but I can’t be a pilot then afaik, same for others. I’m sure less Americans over all are attending tertiary education, and with that comes a drop in people ‘qualified’ to be pilots

F-22 numbers less than 250 airframes, operational numbers are probably half given every other plane of similar age, 125-175 F-22s aren’t gonna make the Chinese quiver in their boots until after the missiles start flying Believe it or not China knows the F-22 exists and they’ve planned for it, good plans? Bad plans? Moderate plans? Who knows, but it’s already priced into the ‘expense’

Nah, you want fewer separate airframes for the purposes of cost reduction, hence why Norway and Denmark are ditching their F-16 fleets and upgrading to F-35, one platform The main issue since the First World War is you couldn’t have every capability on one platform, planes like J-20 and F-35 are getting closer to ending that but still aren’t there
