  2.  @hlbt7307  but it’s not China’s territorial waters, as China does not require the given permissions to transit the strait, and because the US has defense partnerships with multiple nations in the region, so yeah a ship that stopped off in Japan to resupply could cross the strait to get to the Philippines, why did the Chinese warship engage in extremely dangerous and needless activities like trying to get itself t boned for no reason? To spark an international incident trying to make the US warship look like the aggressor? If it was china’s territorial waters they’d be allowed to shoot at the ship…but of course we all know how that’d go down

Wrong, China has steadfastly refused any form of even discussion about an avoidance of naval and air incidents treaty, a treaty Soviet Union and USA agreed to decades ago for precisely this reason China does not want this because as shown by this ship, they want to make a scenario where they are the ‘victim’ of an ‘attack’
