Shame, this hold by the Budapest garrison and the fortress call by Mr Mustache actually saved a good part of Central Europe from soviet occupation
1
‘Most people’s dads were drafted or at risk for drafted’ You’ve said this for no other reason than to try to make it sound worse, 15,000 men were drafted during the Vietnam war, that’s it
1
@ yeah I’m aggro against people who are liars, especially blatant liars
1
Wait what? The British doing something abhorrent? Never heard of it, at least this one doesn’t affect the modern world like most of its other dealings with France
1
Goodwood has proved this to be correct
1
@Twirlyhead it’s not a myth, Exocet missiles have attacked few enemies of France and her allies but many of France’s allies, that’s the joke with them At least they’re effective
1
@strongbrew9116 I didn’t know speaking the truth was whiny, but whatever helps you sleep at night
1
@NoManClatuer-pd8ck the Legion has high standards so mostly those who want to be professional soldiers joined, you’ll see them from major demobilized nations
1
Very much so, military history (not) visualized did a video on it https://youtu.be/NowFmD2AiBY
1
@zylnexxd842 lol, looking at the losses inflicted by the US vs British to those two one wonders how they achieved so much less despite having 3 years head start
1
I wonder what would be said of the Imperial Admiralty if they knew of the war that would follow, and the potential that their ally in said war would have a quarter of their high seas fleet Wonder how that would’ve affected the Med, perhaps Malta wouldn’t have survived
1
Cpl. Rook attacking a fleet in harbor stationary is quite a bit different than engaging them on the high seas, it’s doubtful as well considering how scared the admiral was of the Italian fleet Also many of Britain’s aircraft carriers were converted and weren’t fleet carriers like we think of now but that’s a side note anyway
1
@youraveragescotsman7119 they’re not German, they’re Italian in that case and as Drachnifel pointed out in a podcast with Military History Visualized the Italian Navy was spoopy
1
“It is possible to make no mistakes, and still lose.” ‘Preventable’ in theory, not practice, the opposition gets a vote on what happens
1
The ship was busted to hell and South America isn’t known for wealthy nations, but if they could fix it that would be an amazing piece of history
1
You can war game it if you like but the Brit’s didn’t have a full war plan like america did
1
Fucking stupid “hey we paid you for saving our shit in the worst war ever, give us our money back for nothing, fuckers”
1
There’s no excuse for involved units to not be given the full plan and belligerents of an operation they’re supposed to conduct
1
Dirty leg
1
I hate to be a buzzkill but you being German is completely irrelevant
1
@bhut1571 it’s not hindsight though, as he himself wrote after the war with many things “I ought to have to known” -Churchill 1946, in reference to Singapore
1
@XMysticHerox yup but “muh chamberlain!” And “muh bulldog spirit!” Idiots don’t realize no one ran against him xD
1
Coral all over the Atlantic: ‘it’s free real estate!’
1
@matthewhuszarik4173 theyre not floating marshmallows dude, more ships means less chance one loss loses naval superiority
1
@MaxwellAerialPhotography well this is a completely baseless comment, but maybe I’m biased having bothered to listen and read the congressional efforts to revive the maritime industry this year You should try it
1
Not after 1921
1
No, not after 1923, the Washington naval treaty required the abrigation of it
1
@jimdavison4077 japan never surpassed the military power of the USA, are you daft or just indoctrinated? ‘Mentored’ the Japanese that’s why the Japanese were planning for war with America since the end of the first sino Japanese war and Russo Japanese war
1
@ls200076 there’s a good few tens of millions that wouldn’t say “hilariously” Yeah, they lost, but name me one belligerent responsible for killing them the hard way that wasn’t ripped to shreds doing so
1
johan 321 lol so is that why 60 tanks were destroyed in a battle to the loss of 6 French tanks (4 Stuart’s 2 Sherman’s)?
1
johan 321 that is the European theater, boy
1
It doesn’t excuse him making the errors
1
Argentinians were more honorable soldiers than the Russians, I find this hilarious
1
@littleshep5502 I didn’t see any mass graves on east Falkland
1
Nothing, Germans had no capable carrier craft and didn’t really care about carriers Even if you magic 3 in existence, British air power would hunt them relentlessly and probably wouldn’t have done much more than the battleships
1
and Britain could’ve been defeated in 1940 if the Germans had more submarines than they did What’s the point of this thought exercise? Ie Monday morning quarterbacking
1
Goddammit I gotta open up that wallet of US Marshall aid to buy another amazing poster
1
Better award on the wall? Are you daft? The Vietnamese were fighting for their nation and independence Generals die in war too, not sure you knew that
1
