Here is what I see - the USA gave up on being an empire, but it has to get its resources from somewhere. Up to now the world was feeding them. From now on, their influence shrinks to the two Americas (North and possibly South), but it will be more direct, e.g they will not longer "protect" in order to get what they want, but will straight take what they want. Sadly, we Canadians, are on the continent of North America.

Note: stop rewriting history, neither USA nor Canadians played "key role" in the WWII.

@jayc5373 No kidding. Ever heard of the battle of Stalingrad? Leningrad held 2 years!!! (well, almost two) England was never directly invaded. Oh, a few air strikes...grrrreat.

@jayc5373 No, they did not. At the end they decided to invade only USRR. There is no "second turning point", the turning point is one. Look at the casualties - 20 million soviet soldiers, 1 million resistance fighters in Ugoslavia only,... and then look at the USA/Canada combined. Cities ruined to the ground and they did not stop talking about Pearl Harbor! The truth is the war was won by the soviet people. Only in year 42 two thousand airplanes are produced and many more rocket launchers, the famous Katyusha. The allies made their Normandy decent only when faced with the possibly Germany to be overtaken "by the communist". And they do not even acknowledge the Russians contribution in the last celebration of the victory... shame. I am not saying that your grandfather decision to engage in a war that was way across the ocean is not admirable. We are all given one life, so I do acclaim all that choose to fight for their ideas, but overplaying the role of certain countries is not fair to the memory of all that fought.
