  17. The Jewish people didn't abandon their land. They were exiled by Rome to the four corners of the earth. There was always a Jewish presence in Israel even during the exile. The expulsions from a few city states were usually temporary. In any case, each expulsion brought us closer to our ancestral homeland Israel.
