Gary, like most economists you do not seem to fundamentally comprehend governments should not tax the low paid, no one earning less than £25,000 should pay any form of income tax. and governments should encourage the wealthy to come here as the one percent and the 10% pay the most, if we double up that the increased tax revenue easily Takes up the slack for any revenue lost from the low paid no longer thankfully paying income tax. also an extremely painful immoral rate of 20% VAT disproportionally hurts the low paid, vat should really morally only apply for luxury goods which in general are purchased by the wealthy.
