  1. our Constitution is racist anyway - read section 51 xxiv! The bit about no specifics is spurious. If you bothered to read the Constitution you would realise that it basically is a document that sets out responsibilities for the Federal Government that had previously been done by the colonies (they became States at the same time and have their own constitutions). It mentions defence twice I think (other than in the preamble which has no legal significance). Re3 the government could have introduced the voice without a referendum using its powers under section 51 xxiv. The main reason the vote failed is that people have SFA knowledge of the constitution and imagine it is like the US one.

  3.  @Hadgerz  How many people who voted have any idea about the constitution? I bet less than 10% and I bet probably a higher percentage are unaware that the States have constitutions too but they operate quite differently.
