  1. isn't it healthy that we don't all agree! There has not been enough informed debate over the submarines. Most people have their view clouded by the USA version of China. It is refreshing to hear Mr Keatings explanations of his position. As i lived in China for over four years I tend to agree more with his position than with buying these subs.

Strange you should say that. before we started building the Collins i was in a meeting with union members from Kochums (the builders of them originally who were German i think but could have been Sweedish) and they said that Australia bought them so that the propeller technology could be given to the USA and sure enough when there was a propeller problem one was sent to the USA.
