  1.  @yumyong3847  When TAA and Ansett were choosing a jet to buy local "offset" production was part of the deal. The 727 Rudders were made in Sydney and the Elevators in Melbourne -I think some undercarriage parts may have been made too but i less certain of that (getting old!).

  4. It should be compulsory that we can make it and its ammunition here. We used to have a defence industry set-up specifically so that could happen (StMary's Lithgow, etc)

  5.  @Nashy14  If I remember that was the case with the US ones too initially. They weren't S70s (the very first one was though) but not far from them. Their spec got changed later. I do remember when i saw the designs that to many cables went through the same hole.

  6. Australia should make it a compulsory part of the acquisition of any rifle that it be produced here - if you are not willing to have that then don't be a part of the selection process. America does it with ships so we should have no problem doing it with rifles.
