  4. the last bus I was on in Melbourne had voice announcements for the next stop. It may depend on who runs the busline. if in doubt you can always the bus driver to give you a shout when you get to your stop. If the bus is crowded then just ask a fellow passenger.

  6. there are even differences within Australia - in NSW they have scallops which are made from potato. In Victoria we call them potato cakes to differentiate them from the mollusc.

  7. the $1 and $2 coins replaced notes and are made of different metals. I expect it would have been different if we had introduced them with decimal currency back in 1966.

  8. i don't think hailing a bus is common. I have never seen it in Victoria except where the stop covers multiple bus routes and you hail the one you particularly want.
