  1. Aluminium is not unusual. Jaguar XK120 and Mercedes 300SL Gullwings had some made from it and other vehicles have used it for the bonnet and the doors.

  2. The main problem with aluminium is where it meets another metal and you get electrolysis - you have to put a gasket type material between them..

  3. One of my nephews has a new range Rover and it has a problem and the dealer has found the only stock of the spare is in China (and they only have one). It is being airfreighted to Australia.
