  1. I am Australian and when I got my licence in 1973 it was actually illegal in my State Victoria to reverse in to any parking space other than parallel. It was allowed in NSW but seems to be accepted now except in to angle parking bays. Unless you are loading into the rear of the vehicle I don't see the point of it but as a lot of new vehicles are SUVs the rear gets used more often than the boot of sedan did. I have a station wagon and never reverse park even though i find it easy to do in my car which is 4.9metres long (plus tow bar).
