  1. the problem with rare earths is the processing of them - they are not rare at all they are quite common but processing them is dangerous to the environment.

  2. gallium is also used in LEDs - can you imagine not being able to make yellow LEDs?

  3.  @willengel2458  been to Baotou lately? Metallurgy is fine but the processing of rare earths leads to environmental damage. China needs to address this.
