I live in Australia, which has bush fires and floods, and I wouldn't be without an alert service. Ours are usually done by State emergency services rather than national but i don't doubt the capability is there.

@Lockwoodbeck61 We have this sort of thing in Australia and it is used to warn of emergency situations like bushfires or flashfloods.

@kippertrace5808 Good luck if you are about to enter a tunnel which has an accident in it and they broadcast an alert about it.
3
for one cup I use the microwave.
2
send them an invoice.

@BlackBeltBarrister I have a bit of a giggle when people say they have had legal advice. I point out to them that most cases in court have had legal advice and only one wins. I do like your videos and I am particularly glad that we in Australia have our ABC funded from Government revenue and not from silly licences.
2
Remember when watching these that different rules apply indifferent countries and perhaps even states. I wish these people doing these videos would state which country they are referring to.
1
How differently are people arriving by air, wanting asylum, treated compared to those that arrive by sea.
1
@milo2324 So not Youtube?
1
You could always migrate to Australia and leave this bullshit behind.
1
But a car comes with very little fuel (or charge) in it when you buy it so i think the 'fit for purpose' might be problematic.
1
maybe someone should point out G that even legal advice is just that - advice. In court you have two sets of legal advice and one wins and the other doesn't.
1
Until you get your faraday pouch just wrap up your keys in aluminium foil or put them in a tin box.
1
Do you need a licence to view foreign live TV? So the courts have change the definition of live have they -it appears from what you are saying that they have. for instance in Australia when TV station says something is live they imply that is currently happening (even if it does have a second or two delay).
1
Well it was photoshopped and it was done by the photographer - who happened to be the Princess herslf.
1
Where I live in Australia - the State of Victoria park is defined as follows "park, in Part 12 and for a driver, includes stop and allow the driver's vehicle to stay (whether or not the driver leaves the vehicle)" This is the same as you are suggesting except it covers you remaining in the vehicle as well.
1
@ecc84 superglue the bloody thing instead of opening the remote.
1
The big problem with these arguments are that speedos in cars always overread the speed up to 10% so you are doing less 30mph anyway.
1
In Australia Police are exempt from some road laws if they are on duty even if they do not have active bells and whistles.
1
has anyone lobbied the new Government to get rid of the licence and fund the BBC directly.
1
Gee I am glad that Australia doesn't have to put up with this rubbish (TV licences)
1
Can you be there between midnight and 8:30 on public holidays.
1
I wish people doing these videos would start by telling you which country or State they are referring to. This looks to be England but is it the UK overall?
1
Considering this and TV licenses I am glad I don't live in the UK. How do cars that don't require an annual MOT get sold. Do they get a separate roadworthy certificate?
1
like Australian Police they have watched too much US TV.
1
I think they should have moved to metric speeds limits and then they had to change the limits.
1
How does that work with vehicles owned by a company or rental company. In Australia they have to nominate the driver of the vehicle at the time ot they pay a $3,000 fine in my State (Victoria). Companies keep logs of who is driving the various vehicles on the day.
1
I love how in Australia I have just watched BBC News and don't have to pay for it. Of course it is yesterdays news.
1
Interesting how different this is between countries. I am Australian and when my driver's licence was last renewed i didn't get asked to have a new photo taken. i don't know their parameters but they sometimes do ask you to have one taken. I am 67 and the photo on my licence would be from when i was 47 i think. It is still accurate enough to identify me though.
1
In Australia it certainly isn't unless the phone is in a cradle.
1
eljay5009 A pedestrian walks at 5mph so they should be able to stop even quicker.
1
meanwhile whilst we are not looking at our phone we are busy looking at a speedo to make sure we are driving under the speed limit.
1
If it is unlikely to happen then change the laws so it can't.
1
Is a TV broadcast of an episode of Neighbours considered to be live?
1
@mpol701 I can't see how any rebroadcast of neighbours could be considered to be live.
1
@mpol701 You have a strange definition of live then. In Australia live means it is being broad cast as it happens (or with a very slight delay) like cricket broadcasts. Neighbours is seen as a pre-recorded show in our books.
1
gas leak perhaps, a fire in an factory that is likely to explode. maybe they are different levels of Government.
1
If Lineker is on the BBC he should be impartial. Off the BBC he should be able to say what he thinks.
1
I can't see why. Using money is invented. In Australia we now have banks which do not give out or accept cash.
1
Australia's ABC is funded by the government without us having licences but still is required to be impartial.
1
BBC Iplayer should be easy enough for them to justify a warrant as they would have your IP address wouldn't they.
1
I get more distracted by having to constantly look at the speedometer to confirm I am within the speedlimit which here in Australia change too often. Our laws allow for use of the phone as a navigation system provided it is in a cradle and can be used without physical interaction.
1
Australian law is clearer than yours. You must turn off the engine before you take a call and the handbrake has no relevance here.
