yeah you can throw a match in to liquid petrol and it won't burn but vapours loves to ignite.

lucked out or luck in?

@CaptainRon1913 safety is no karen matter!
6
@ek.74.914 or even just take some air out of the rear tyres.
5
its a bit each way.
4
is it to cover the cost of a loan car?
4
@Dr.TJ_Eckleburg Yeah if it was matching numbers then it would be a pity if the engine can't be recovered but it looks too good to pass up unless other have the same idea.
4
@gordonmccracken1209 ford did that and in Australia if the Ford territory found a mismatch or no signal then it froze the vehicle- you couldn't even shift it in to neutral to put it on a tow truck! I don't know whether this got changed though.
3
@unspecifiedd no more complicated than setting headlights.
3
and next time it needs a service you know what to do.
2
@benlee6500 Yeah sometimes it gets crazy. I have an Australian Ford falcon and had a collapsed cell in the battery and couldn't open the bonnet to get to the battery. We ended up hooking up a jump start cables to the starter motor and then the key fob worked.

Didn't the Car Wizard use a different brand of fuel pump as his replacement?

A customer of ours has a diesel Touareg (not a V10) and had particulate problems and was quoted a horrendous price to fix it. We discussed it at work and thought the sensible thing was for him to take the car on a country drive over two hours and see what happened. He did and the problem was fixed. the real problem was that it is a city car and seldom gets up to operating temperature for more than ten minutes at a time.
2
Restore it and put it on the market in Australia or New Zealand.

I would buy the cheapies and if that fixes the problem then I would buy the genuine new ones.

I'll vote one for the BMW the worst front I have seen since an Edsel.
1
I don't think you needed a BMW expert to diagnose a bent rod or bearing. This car has sucked in water and that usually bends a rod or two as a result. the noise sounds like that to me.
1
@bioboost12 Did he say that the 4K was the airfare. He probably put him up in a nice hotel for a few days and airport/hotel transfers etc. It still sounds a lot though.

My friend drove his one to our factory today. he is a fairly big guy and it is interesting watching him get in or out of it. The sun visors nearly hit his head if he is not careful but gee it sounds sweet.

A Deranged Rover.
1
@Samcrac I too like it because you are working on your cars in a similar way to what we have to.
1
So how does anyone show racecars that have sponsors logo on them? Dominos used to sponsor some Nascars. If they haven't taken similar action to people showing any of those cars or races containing them then they should be told to take a running jump preferably off a cliff.
1
I love watching people moving or removing seats. What you need to do is turn them so the base is vertical and the bottom of it towards the front of the car - then it is easy to just turn the seat around the pillar to get it out.
1
I think I would be buying a heap of Isopropyl Alcohol and Contact cleaner and maybe some Acetone. All are useful for cleaning electronics and pcbs in general.
1
It does show that a car constantly in use keeps better than one used sparingly. I wouldn't mod it.
1
One of my friends here in Melbourne Australia has a C4 ZR1 that has been converted to right hand drive. It is in fantastic condition and he has a spare motor and trans for it as well as he figures it would take a while to source any spares from the USA..
1
If they are called disc brakes then why do people call the disk a rotor?
1
I would have attached a small drill to that motor to turn it faster.
1
I think the Ferrari company should be sued on the basis of non-merchantable quality.
1
as long as its a 560 or 500SEC.
1
when you loosen them are you supposed to go 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 ? rather than the opposite which is how you tighten it?
1
I just did the serpentine belt on my Australian ford fairmont wagon and even with the diagram in front of me (its a decal under the bonnet) I still took two tries before i got it right.
1
@mikejamesalt It isn't a lost cause if you have the right equipment and knowledge to do the job.
1
@trusoundlowvolumedrumheads1002 If they have the money and don't particularly care then they aren't an idiot.
